It seems that many entrepreneurs have a knack for seeing the world a different way. Where most people will see a problem or an annoyance in life the entrepreneur will constantly be thinking of ways to solve a particular problem or meet a market demand. While of course we can’t all be like Thomas Edison I do think that maybe we can all agree that simply by attempting to look at things around us in new ways that maybe we can begin to solve some problems and find solutions that people will want to pay money to have.

This article will be very common sense but I think very potent if we can all try to apply some of the practical things from below into our everyday perspective and then maybe even find a gem of an idea to use as the basis for starting a new business of our own (if you do then be sure to read the article from Neal titled “6 Mistakes I Made When I Opened My Business” first). Here are some common mindsets in the forms of questions or statements that no doubt all of us find ourselves thinking and an accompanying uncommon question or statement that many with an entrepreneurial mindset would think as they try to tune in to the entrepreneur opportunities that are all around us on a daily basis.

It might sound simple and obvious, but it is a tremendously powerful principle if you really understand and implement it in your business. It will also save your business from disaster. You see, many people don’t understand this basic and important fact. The business needs to make money, but where is the money?

In the customers’ pockets! So unless you have customers, you won’t make any money. You need a lot of customers, because that’s where the money is! People starting a web business many times think that if they buy a high-priced product from a Guru or if they join a scheme, then their business would become profitable. It is precisely this mentality that makes them fall for scams. A lot of folks get duped because they don’t realize that the money is with the customers and not in a scheme. McDonald’s doesn’t make money by joining a scheme. Walmart doesn’t profit from a schemeither. They get their money from their customers. In fact all the big businesses get their billions of dollars from their customers. It is the customers’ money that makes them rich!

The structure of your website can mean the difference between a stalled business and a flourishing one. If your website isn’t built for the consumer, then` the consumer will steer clear. Have you ever ventured into a store and found it messy or crowded and` hard to maneuver? Did you ever go back to that place? Probably not. The same thing goes for your online business. Some websites are not built for the average customer. They use large graphics that take hours for a 56K modem to download, or their links don’t work. If you don’t know how to build a website yourself, then hire a professional who knows how to do it for you.
Your site needs to be user-friendly so that customers keep coming back – not only for their first purchase, but also for follow-up sales once they’ve devoured your initial product. Once the designer drafts your site and your content is in place, ask a few friends or family members to make a test run through it and tell you if they notice any areas where the user would run into problems, like dead links or layout trouble. Sometimes, something as simple as the browser the customer is using will distort the website and make it appear as if an amateur has launched an online business. Any reputable designer knows how to appeal to the masses, so you shouldn’t run into any trouble if you check references and hire someone who’s been in the business for at least 5 years.
